Live online A-Level tutoring built around one thing: your grade
Apex is a monthly subscription, not a stack of one-off lessons. You get a set number of live 1-on-1 or small-group sessions every week in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Economics, taught by specialists in that subject, plus round-the-clock access to recorded lessons, past-paper walkthroughs and revision packs written for your exam board.
Every tutor has taught A-Level for at least five years
Materials mapped to AQA, Edexcel and OCR specifications
Progress reports sent to parents, not just to students
Every tutor has taught A-Level for 5+ years
5+ years
Minimum A-Level teaching experience for every tutor on the platform. Subject specialists only, so a Chemistry tutor teaches Chemistry.
AQA · Edexcel · OCR
Revision packs, past-paper walkthroughs and mark-scheme drills built per board, not one generic set of notes.
6 subjects
Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics, live 1-on-1 or in small groups.
20 minutes
Free diagnostic call before you pay anything. No card, no commitment, no sales script.
Six subjects, taught by specialists in that subject
Pick the subject you need and read exactly how we teach it, which modules we cover and how the past-paper work is structured.
Maths
Maths & Further Maths
Pure, mechanics, statistics and the Further Maths options: complex numbers, matrices, differential equations, further mechanics. Heavy focus on method marks, working out where students lose marks on long questions, and timed paper practice under exam conditions.
Content teaching plus the parts students routinely drop marks on: required practicals, data and error analysis, six-mark extended responses and the calculation-heavy topics in Physics and Chemistry. Each tutor teaches one science, not all three.
Micro and macro, with the essay technique that decides the grade: evaluation, chains of reasoning, diagram accuracy and using real-world UK and global context. Data-response practice built from recent papers on your board.
From diagnostic call to first session in under a week
No lengthy onboarding. Most students book the call, get matched within a couple of days and are in their first live session the same week.
01
Free 20-minute diagnostic call
We ask what you are studying, which exam board, current and target grades, and where the marks are actually going. Bring a recent paper or mock if you have one. No card details are taken at this stage.
02
Tutor and pace matched
We match you to a specialist in that exact subject and set the weekly pace: two, four or unlimited sessions depending on how far you are from the target and how long you have.
03
Weekly live sessions begin
Sessions run live online, 1-on-1 or in a small group, at the same slots each week so revision has a rhythm. Between sessions you work through the recorded library and set past papers.
04
Progress reports go to parents
Parents get regular written reports: topics covered, attendance, past-paper scores and how the predicted grade is tracking against the target. No guessing about whether it is working.
The live hours are where the teaching happens, but most of a student's revision happens alone at 9pm on a Tuesday. Every plan includes unlimited access to the same library, whether you are on Essentials or Exam Sprint.
Recorded lesson library
Full topic-by-topic recordings across all six subjects, so a missed concept can be re-watched instead of re-booked. Useful for catching up after illness or going back over a Year 12 topic before mocks.
Past-paper walkthroughs
Worked solutions recorded question by question, with the mark scheme explained: what the examiner is actually awarding, where method marks sit and which phrasing gets credit.
Exam-board-specific revision packs
Separate materials for AQA, Edexcel and OCR. Specification checklists, condensed notes, formula and definition sheets and topic tests that match the paper structure your board uses.
Structured revision timetables
Your tutor builds a week-by-week plan back from the exam date, so independent study has a target rather than being whatever feels urgent that evening.

Why a monthly subscription beats booking hourly tutors
We used to see the same pattern with hourly tutoring: a burst of lessons before a mock, then nothing for six weeks, then panic in April. A subscription fixes the rhythm and the budget at the same time.

Consistency
Sessions get skipped in quiet weeks and crammed before mocks.
Fixed weekly slots for the whole term, so progress compounds.
Revision planning
Each lesson tends to cover whatever is most urgent that week.
A timetable planned back from the exam date, with topics sequenced.
Cost
Varies month to month, spikes exactly when you can least predict it.
One fixed monthly price. £129, £219 or £349, nothing added on.
Between sessions
Usually nothing until the next paid hour.
Recorded lessons, past-paper walkthroughs and board-specific packs, unlimited.
Parent visibility
Whatever the student reports back.
Written progress reports with attendance and predicted grade tracking.
Tutor knowledge of the student
Often restarts with a new tutor each time availability changes.
Same specialist week to week, building on what they already know.
For parents
What parents actually get to see
You are paying for this, so you should not have to work out from the outside whether it is helping. Reports go to the parent or guardian on the account, in writing, on a regular schedule.
Written progress reports
What was covered in each session, what was set as independent work, and whether it came back done. Written in plain language, not a tick-box template.
Predicted grade tracking
Past-paper and topic-test scores logged over time and mapped against grade boundaries for the relevant board, so you can see the direction of travel rather than one good mock.
Attendance
Every scheduled session is logged as attended, rescheduled or missed. If a student starts quietly dropping sessions, you hear about it from us that week.
If the tutor is not the right fit
Say so and we reassign, no awkward conversation required and no charge for the switch. Personality fit matters at A-Level, and sometimes the first match is not it.

Questions before you commit?
The diagnostic call is with a person who teaches the subject, not a salesperson. Ask about the reports, the tutor's background, how the timetable is built, whatever you need. You can also call the office on 020 7946 0958.
We would rather leave this space honest than fill it with quotes nobody said. Apex is a results-focused service, so this section will only ever carry verified feedback and outcomes we can stand behind.

Student and parent testimonials
We are collecting written permission from current families before publishing any quotes here. Once a student and their parent have both signed off, their words go up unedited, with the subject and exam board attached.

Grade outcome examples
Verified before-and-after examples, taken from logged past-paper scores at the start of a subscription and the final result, will be published here after the next results day. No rounded-up averages and no numbers we cannot evidence.
How we measure progress in the meantime
Baseline paper scored during or just after the diagnostic call
Topic tests and timed papers logged through the subscription
Predicted grade tracked against the target on every report

No hourly add-ons and no materials fee. The diagnostic call is free whether you subscribe or not.
Both are available on every plan. Live 1-on-1 sessions suit students with specific gaps or who need to move at their own pace. Small groups work well for topic teaching and past-paper walkthroughs, and some students focus better with a couple of peers in the room. We recommend a mix on the diagnostic call and you can change it later.
Can we switch tutors if it is not working?
Yes, and there is no charge for it. Tell us the match is not right and we reassign you to another specialist in the same subject. You do not need to justify the request. Fit matters at A-Level, and we would rather move a student early than watch a term go to waste.
How does cancellation work?
Plans are monthly. You cancel from your account or by emailing us, and the subscription runs to the end of the month you have already paid for. There is no minimum term and no exit fee. You can also pause and restart, which some families do over the summer.
Can a student start mid-year?
Most students do. The diagnostic call establishes exactly where they are in the specification and what has already been taught at school, and the tutor builds the plan from that point rather than starting from the beginning of the course. Joining in January or February is completely normal.
Which exam boards do you cover?
AQA, Edexcel and OCR across all six subjects, with separate revision packs, specification checklists and past-paper walkthroughs for each. Tell us your board and option modules on the call and we will confirm coverage before you sign up rather than after.
What happens on the free 20-minute diagnostic call?
We go through the subject, exam board, current grade and target grade, and look at a recent paper or mock if you have one to hand. From that we recommend a plan, a weekly session count and a tutor. No card details are taken and there is no obligation to sign up afterwards.
